Jill
I have always been a person who enjoys involvement in many varied activities. As a psychologist, this means that I am drawn to working with different people with diverse issues in creative ways that best fit our personalities and your needs. I began my community-based practice directly after becoming licensed to practice in New York state, and continue to appreciate being able to use flexibility, compassion, and humor in my work as a private practitioner.
It is a privilege to serve my community; in addition to private practice work, I volunteer with the American Red Cross as a local Disaster Mental Health provider for our neighbors during times of crisis, teach at a local university, and engage in consultative and legislative efforts within the realm of mental health.
EDUCATION and experience
I graduated from University at Albany's Counseling Psychology doctoral program in 2014. My internship and post-doctoral residency training programs were completed at the Orlando VA and Albany VA Medical Centers where I honed my expertise in holistic trauma treatment, embedded within a generalist psychotherapy background. This means that while I specialize in helping people who have experienced various forms of T/traumatic circumstances, I am foremost a generalist practitioner who is competent to meet the needs of a wide variety of problems people may seek counseling for.
Over the past several years, I have worked in my community-based private practice office, VA and community hospitals, college counseling centers, substance use clinics, and community mental health clinics, as well having served as a community crisis responder. These diverse experiences have contributed most to broad knowledge and flexibility as a psychologist. I pull from my work in these varied roles and settings to help individuals address the complexity of theie human experience.
